IN LOVING MEMORY
Antonio Monsivais

🌿 This garden container blossoms in memory of Antonio Monsivais 🌿
Jesus Antonio Monsivais was born in June 1945 in Venado, San Luis Potosí, Mexico—the fifth of eight children of Felipa Martinez and Miguel Monsivais. From an early age, he showed an industrious spirit, riding his bicycle through town delivering tools and helping relatives at their mill in La Aurora, Coahuila.
In 1965, Antonio graduated from the Technological Institute of Saltillo as a welder. Just three years later, at the age of 23, he left Saltillo in search of greater opportunity, settling in Chicago, where many of his family members had already made a home. Soon after, he met Irma Ramirez—the love of his life. They married in June 1972 and together built a family rooted in faith, love, and resilience. Over their 52 years of marriage, Antonio and Irma raised five daughters in Chicago, Saltillo, and Arlington, Texas.
Antonio worked as a certified welder at General Motors’ Electro-Motive Division in Hodgkins, Illinois, dedicating nearly three decades of his life to building locomotive engines. He retired in 2006 after 29.5 years of service.
Beyond work, Antonio embraced life with joy and passion. He loved soccer matches, long road trips, playing chess, working on cars, and caring for his beloved dog, Pinky. Most of all, he treasured time with his family.
Antonio’s legacy is one of kindness, humor, and steadfast love. His laughter, warm hugs, and gentle spirit continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him. This container blooms as a living tribute to his enduring strength and the love he planted in so many lives.
